Sustainable Sailing Greece

Sustainable Sailing Greece was founded in 2022, with the mission to preserve the breathtaking sea and landscapes of the Greek coastal environment.

After falling in love with sailing in and around the wonderful islands of Greece, our founder Christina set out to bring her decades of sustainability experience to her home shores of Greece.

"Over the past couple of years I've had lots of conversations and done lots of research to find an area where I can add value. In a departure from my usual 'land based' work I found myself drawn to the sea and the world of sailing. Given this is still something I am trying to do in my spare time, I am starting with small steps, meeting and talking with lots of inspiring and energising people and companies and learning a lot about this new sector.

The Ionian Environment Foundation has been part of this from the start, and thanks to their support we are building a practical guide for the hundreds of thousands of visitors who sail the Ionian seas each summer, with a view to not only offer some practical guidance, but also get them to be part of the conversation on what needs to happen to protect the amazing coastal communities and waters of Greece.

In this area of the world, a sustainable sailing sector can really help with the preservation of marine ecosystems and support to the many coastal communities."
